Nvidia Geforce Gtx 1060 Mobile: The Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 mobile is a graphics card for high-end laptops. It is founded on the Pascal architecture and factory-made in 16 nm FinFET at TSMC. The GPU uses the minor GP106 chip. Compared to the desktop form of the GTX 1060, the laptop offers the same amount of shaders but slightly lower clock rates. In addition, the TDP is somewhat less than the old GTX 970M (predecessor).

For thin and light laptops, Nvidia offers a Max-Q called version of the GTX 1060 with lower TDP and significantly lower performance. Sadly this variant is sold with the same GTX 1060 name, making it hard to judge the performance.

NVIDIA Geforce GTX 1060 (Desktop)

The Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 is a graphic card for desktops and high-end laptops (upcoming, see our article for the mobile GTX 1060 for benchmarks and specs). Based on the Pascal architecture, it remained manufactured in 16 nm FinFET at TSMC.

The GPU remains based on the minor GP106 chip. In laptops, it has the name N17E-G1 and will be the heir to the old GTX 970M (predecessor). The laptop version should stand launched in August 2016. The desktop form is already out.

The presentation of the 6 GB version is on par with an older GeForce GTX 980 (desktop and laptop). Therefore, 1080p gaming at the most extraordinary detail is currently the best use case for the card.
